Okinawa Chuo High School, the First Correspondence High School in Miyakojima City, Okinawa, Holds Its First Entrance Ceremony Since Opening

Okinawa Chuo High School (Location: Miyakojima City, Okinawa Prefecture; Principal: Yukio Miyaguni), a wide-area, credit-based correspondence high school operated by the Chuo Kokusai Gakuen educational corporation, held its entrance ceremony on April 5, 2026. This was the first entrance ceremony held since the school's opening on October 1, 2025, marking a commemorative milestone for the institution.

On the day of the ceremony, seven new students (one absent), transfer students, and their parents or guardians attended. Furthermore, local assembly members and related officials participated as guests to celebrate this new beginning.

A Solemn Ceremony and Warm Blessings

The ceremony began with an opening address, followed by a moment of silence, the singing of the national anthem, and the official admission of the students. In his ceremonial address, Principal Yukio Miyaguni offered words of encouragement to each new student, saying, "I hope you will take your first steps in this new environment while valuing a learning style that is true to yourselves."

Following this, in addition to a congratulatory speech from the Chairman of the Board, warm messages were delivered to the new students by guest speakers including Yoichi Akashi, Professor Emeritus at Chiba University; Kanna Yamauchi, Representative of YOKANG; and Katsunori Miyagi, Superintendent of Education for Miyakojima City.

The "Next Steps" Pledged by New Students

During the pledge by the representative of the new students, expectations and goals for their upcoming high school life were expressed, filling the venue with loud applause. Afterward, the introduction of the staff and the reading of congratulatory telegrams took place, creating an atmosphere where the entire school came together to welcome the new students.

A Special Program Colored by the Sound of the Sanshin

As a special program for the ceremony, a Sanshin performance was presented by the Sarahama Band "Aagu" (Ryu Fukumura on vocals/Sanshin, Yoshiro Hanba on vocals/Sanshin, and Hirotoshi Ikema on Taiko drums). The warm, distinctively Okinawan tone enveloped the venue, providing a memorable moment for the new students and their families.

As a School Walking Alongside the Community

On the day, the staff wore commemorative Kariyushi wear featuring an original design by YOKANG. YOKANG is a fashion brand originating from Okinawa that actively incorporates the taste of traditional Bingata dyeing. Based on the concept of "clothes to be proud of," the brand proposes everything from casual everyday wear to formal and bridal attire.
This commemorative Kariyushi wear was designed with motifs of the Irabu Bridge and Deigo flowers, adding color to the ceremony as an outfit symbolizing the connection with the local community.

As of April 2026, Okinawa Chuo High School has welcomed approximately 300 students from all over the country, expanding its role as a place of learning for students with diverse backgrounds.

The school will continue to collaborate with the local community to provide an educational environment that closely supports each student, promoting the creation of a learning space that draws out their individual potential.
