VANILLABEANS (Vanilla Beans), a Yokohama-based craft chocolate specialty store operated by Chocolate Design Co., Ltd. (CEO: Masahiro Otsuki, headquarters: Yokohama City), will sequentially launch its summer-limited shaved ice series, 'Glasspile,' in three phases.

This series uses house-made chocolate ice crafted from a blend of cacao beans sourced from Ecuador and Ghana. By pairing the rich, aromatic chocolate ice with various fruits, each serving offers a distinct and refreshing flavor profile.

The lineup consists of three varieties: Berry, Lychee×Cacaopulp, and Pear (La France). Customers can enjoy a diverse range of flavors on a rotating monthly basis as a summer dessert.

Product Overview

### First Release: 'Vanillabeans Glasspile -Berry-'

The first flavor features the popular combination of sweet-tart berries and chocolate. Lightly shaved chocolate ice is topped with a mousse made from a blend of Ecuadorian and Ghanaian cacao, garnished with cacao nibs. At the bottom of the glass lies a slow-cooked, tangy berry jam, while milk ice cream is hidden within the shaved ice, creating a balanced harmony between the deep richness of chocolate and the bright acidity of berries.

### Second Release: 'Vanillabeans Glasspile -Lychee×Cacaopulp-' [New]

The second release is a new summer 2026 creation combining rare cacao fruit pulp (cacaopulp) with lychee. The house-made chocolate ice is shaved from chocolate produced in-house, starting from roasting the cacao beans, resulting in a harmonious blend of cacao’s fruity aroma and lychee’s refreshing coolness. The cacaopulp mousse is paired with lychee sauce and sorbet, finished with blueberry powder for added color. This flavor delivers a bright, refreshing acidity from both lychee and cacaopulp—perfect for summer.

About VANILLABEANS, the Yokohama-Based Craft Chocolate Specialist

Founded in 2000, VANILLABEANS (Vanilla Beans) began as an online store selling craft chocolate and has grown into a Yokohama-based specialty brand. The company now operates multiple physical stores with integrated cafes, primarily in the Minatomirai area of Yokohama.

The company has long been committed to sustainability and is currently running the 'Cacao Forest Project,' supporting cacao planting and cultivation in the Republic of Ecuador. From 2024 to 2026, the project will provide approximately 9,500 cacao seedlings to young farmers who are establishing their first farms, supporting sustainable cacao production.

The 'Cacao Forest Project' uses a portion of VANILLABEANS’ product sales revenue to support young cacao farmers facing economic challenges. The goal is to support these farmers over a three-year period—from planting to harvesting—enabling them to generate income. The harvested cacao beans will be processed into chocolate at VANILLABEANS and sold as 'Farm to Bar' products.
