Canon IT Solutions Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroshi Suyama; hereinafter "Canon ITS"), a member of the Canon Marketing Japan Group, will begin offering a new version of "WebPerformer-NX," a platform that supports the construction of digital services, on March 30, 2026. This new version adds development support functions where generative AI proposes screen designs, and generative AI integration functions that promote business sophistication. The introduction of this version, which utilizes generative AI, will support the acceleration of companies' digital transformation (DX) through system development and business improvement.
Background
As DX promotion intensifies, many companies are accelerating the use of digital technologies to improve operational efficiency and create new value. However, even when they can envision business challenges to be solved and desired outcomes, they often don't know how to proceed with specific digitalization, leading to stagnation in the early stages of DX promotion.
To address these challenges and support DX promotion through digital service construction, Canon ITS has provided "WebPerformer-NX," a platform that assists in building digital services. This new version enhances functions that allow generative AI to be utilized more practically, thereby boosting companies' DX promotion from both system development and business operation perspectives.
Features
This version enhances functions with the aim of improving development productivity and expanding AI utilization in business operations. Functions contributing to improved productivity in the development process include "AI UI Suggest" and "AI UI Modify." As an AI utilization function in business operations, a feature has been added to call generative AI from any component on a business screen and receive the response.
"AI UI Suggest"
When a screen layout (image data) is uploaded to "WebPerformer-NX," generative AI analyzes the screen composition and layout characteristics, and based on the image data, proposes a screen definition plan with the necessary components arranged.
This function can be utilized not only for new development but also for creating a preliminary draft during the reconstruction of existing systems or the review/renewal of UI design. Since discussions can start from UI proposals that are close to the final image, it contributes to shortening discussion time and speeding up alignment in the initial design phase.
"AI UI Modify"
Generative AI analyzes each component placed in the created screen definition and automatically corrects discrepancies between elements and variations in margins.
By proposing layout plans that consider the overall screen balance and visibility, it achieves standardization of UI quality and labor savings in adjustment work, thereby supporting user-friendly screen design.
Calling External AI from Applications
In the constructed business applications, a function has been added that allows generative AI to be called with pre-defined processing content, based on values input/displayed in various components such as text areas on the screen.
Without needing to prepare a dedicated chat screen, generative AI-powered summarization/judgment support can be seamlessly integrated into business screen operations and processing flows. This enables AI utilization that leads to business sophistication.
*To use the generative AI functions, you need to subscribe to an external AI service (Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Google Cloud Vertex AI)...
