What is the purpose of this project?

To bundle and sell the CO2 emission reduction value created by solar power from companies in Nara as J-Credits, thereby reducing the burden on companies and creating a virtuous cycle of decarbonization and economic activity.

These are government-certified credits for CO2 reductions/removals achieved through energy-saving equipment or renewable energy. They can be sold to other companies, which can use them for carbon offsetting.

What role does bywill play?

Bywill will centrally manage the environmental value of companies in the prefecture, providing end-to-end support from project planning and credit application to developing sales channels for the created credits.

This initiative will centrally bundle, credit, and sell the environmental value of companies in Nara Prefecture. It aims to create a virtuous cycle of decarbonization and J-Credit creation, driving regional carbon neutrality.

Bywill Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yuichiro Shimomura), a company promoting an economic cycle utilizing environmental value to create "a world where people want to do GX," has been selected as a partner in the "Nara Prefecture J-Credit Creation Partnership Project for the Introduction of Solar Power Generation Facilities, etc." public proposal competition conducted by Nara Prefecture (Governor: Makoto Yamashita).

The two parties will work together on the creation and distribution of environmental values, including J-Credits (*1), and the creation of new business models.

*1: J-Credits are certified by the national government as "credits" for the amount of greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2, reduced or absorbed through decarbonization activities by businesses, such as installing energy-saving equipment or utilizing renewable energy. The issued credits can be sold to other companies, and purchasers can use them for carbon offsetting.

Project Name: J-Credit Creation Partnership Project

Project Purpose: In its Nara Prefecture Decarbonization Strategy formulated in March 2025, Nara Prefecture advocates for the promotion of J-Credit utilization. By concluding the "Agreement on J-Credit Creation Partnership Project," the aim is to credit the environmental value obtained from CO2 emission reductions through the introduction of solar power generation facilities, etc., within the prefecture, thereby creating a virtuous cycle of decarbonization and J-Credit creation.

Project Duration: 8 years from the date of J-Credit creation (extendable upon consultation)
