With just one tap, a product arrives. Do you know what goes on behind this everyday convenience?
Bunkyosha Co., Ltd. (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Shuji Yamamoto) has collaborated with JP Rakuten Logistics Co., Ltd. (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Takeshi Sugisaki) to create a children's booklet titled "JP Rakuten Logistics × Unko Drill: Secrets of the Warehouse."
This booklet introduces the "warehouse" and "logistics mechanism" behind how products ordered online reach customers, using a story full of humor and a quiz format.
Through the logistics mechanism that connects online orders to delivery, the booklet helps children learn the importance of "the flow of goods" and "jobs that support daily life."
The Unseen Side of One-Tap Delivery
With just one tap, a product arrives. What happens behind this everyday convenience?
When you run out of toilet paper and order it online, it arrives quickly—Unko Sensei (Teacher Poop) asks about this convenience: "Do you know what's behind this convenience?"
What unfolds is a massive warehouse and a never-ending system. Products constantly move, supported by people, and only then do they reach us.
A story that begins with a pinch everyone has experienced at least once.
A Large-Scale System Operating in a Giant Warehouse
The logistics warehouse depicted in the booklet is on an unimaginable scale. Its area is approximately 160 times that of a 25-meter swimming pool. A vast quantity of products is stored there and quickly retrieved upon order.
Products are automatically transported to shelves, move when needed, and are shipped out. Furthermore, if all the conveyor belts circulating within the warehouse are connected, they would span approximately 8,000 meters.
Such mechanisms support our "quick delivery."
A warehouse that can store 10,000 years' worth of toilet paper, assuming one wipes every day.
The Logistics Field Created by People and Technology
On the other hand, this world is not solely run by machines.
People who handle products in the warehouse, those who arrange deliveries, engineers who maintain equipment, and those who streamline the overall flow based on data. Each plays a role, working together to advance the work.
Behind a single product's journey to us, many people's work accumulates. Through this booklet, it conveys the perspective that "society is supported by the efforts of many people."
Various professionals supporting the logistics field.
The System Supporting Life in Unseen Ways
An era where shopping is possible with a single finger. However, behind that, there is a large flow for storing, moving, and delivering products.
Warehouses and the people who work there, normally unseen. It is because of their existence that our daily lives are sustained.
This booklet provides children with an opportunity to notice these "unseen mechanisms."
About Unko Drill
"Unko Drill" is a children's educational content series that has surpassed 13 million copies in total sales.
Using the impact of the word "unko" (poop) as an entry point, it has produced numerous collaboration booklets with companies and local governments as educational content that children can enjoy learning from.
Bunkyosha will continue to create content that funnily conveys "important lessons for living" so that children can lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
