This Summer, Immerse Yourself in Moving Cultural Experiences: A Rich Lineup of Photography, Film, and Performing Arts

Bunkamura, a cultural organization based in Shibuya, will offer a diverse range of cultural experiences this summer, centered around the photography exhibition "Miracles of the Gaze: The Adventures of Japanese Women Photographers," featuring a lineup of exhibitions, films, and events.

Additionally, there will be special performances of the musical "Sunset Boulevard" starring Sarah Brightman, the first performance of the popular "Shibuya Noh" series in fiscal year 2026, and Marcos Morau's "Kinkakuji." These events promise encounters with culture and art unique to this summer.

◎ Miracles of the Gaze: The Adventures of Japanese Women Photographers

This exhibition, which garnered attention at the Arles International Photo Festival in France, makes its triumphant return to Japan. With expanded participating artists and exhibits, it will showcase a total of 30 women photographers. Their gazes directed at diverse themes such as memory, the body, daily life, and gender, along with their creative expressions, will be brought together in one place.

Moments of silence that unexpectedly visit us in the course of life. These are also moments that speak deeply about the meaning and essence of existence. This exhibition introduces seven women photographers who keenly observe the intersection of "life" and "stillness" and explore the questions that arise from it through their unique methods.

◎ "Shibuya Noh" First Night: Konparu School

"Shibuya Noh" enters its 8th year. The first night will feature the Noh play "Kamo" performed by the Konparu school. This is a highly engaging piece with rich highlights, depicting a village woman recounting the legend of Kamo Myojin and a thunder god celebrating a bountiful harvest, showcasing a blend of grace and power. A preliminary lecture by Noh actors themselves will be held on 8/21/2026 (Fri).

"Bunkamura Le Cinema Shibuya Miyashita," operating at the Shibuya Toei Plaza located at the corner of the Miyamasuzaka-shita intersection near Shibuya Station.
