Since its opening in 1989, Bunkamura (Shibuya, Tokyo) has transmitted a great deal of culture and art as a multipurpose cultural facility. It is currently closed, with the exception of Orchard Hall.
We consider this closure period as a chance to take on new challenges with free thinking. While continuing to create and transmit culture and art that moves people's hearts—something Bunkamura has always valued—we will also proceed with initiatives to further expand our field of activities.
Please look forward to the 'Bunkamura Challenge,' which embodies our desire to weave stories that lead to a spiritually rich tomorrow through emotion. https://www.bunkamura.co.jp/sp/bunkamurachallenge/
【Music & Dance】 The year 2026 is finally the countdown year for Orchard Hall's closure. We will create a memorable season for everyone through both the 'Bunkamura Produce' projects already rolling out in various external halls, and the home-venue presentations of our long-loved standard programs.
First, the brother duo Lucas & Arthur Jussen, highly anticipated by piano fans, is not to be missed. Having finally made their debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in February of this year, expectations are high for their performances that convey the authentic 'now.' Comparing their sound with the once-in-a-lifetime duo performance by Keigo Mukawa & Wataru Hisasue in September will also be a highlight. The NHK Symphony Orchestra Orchard Regular 'Toyoko Series' will feature chief conductor Fabio Luisi in Yokohama in April. The world-class performance of Mahler's 5th is a must-listen. In June, marking the milestone of the final Orchard Hall performance in this series, cinematic masterpieces like 'Star Wars' and 'E.T.' will echo through the hall with the NHK Symphony sound, conducted by Keitaro Harada, who received personal instruction from J. Williams himself. Furthermore, the new dance piece 'Kinkakuji' (The Golden Pavilion) - A Marcos Joruri, by Marcos Morau, currently the most watched choreographer in the world, is a world-class, highly-talked-about production that will invite audiences into another dimension.
Please look forward to Bunkamura's unique music and dance programs from spring to summer.
