National Theatre Kids Site: Announcement of Series Project [Ochanomizu University Elementary School x National Theatre]

The Japan Arts Council and Ochanomizu University have been collaborating and cooperating mutually by utilizing their respective characteristics and educational, research, and cultural resources based on a comprehensive agreement signed in March 2023. Starting in fiscal 2025, Ochanomizu University, its affiliated Elementary School, and Junior High School will jointly conduct and cooperate in 'Research on Methods for Popularizing Traditional Performing Arts by Generation', which aims to explore effective ways to popularize traditional performing arts among target audiences ranging from elementary school to university students.

As part of this research, we recently conducted a joint arts and crafts class themed 'Kabuki Curtains' at the Ochanomizu University Elementary School. The learning process, the children's creations, and the teaching materials used have been serialized on the 'National Theatre Kids Site' as the 'Makuga Aitara' (When the Curtain Opens) series. Through this serialization, we aim to deliver the charm of traditional culture widely to society beyond a single educational setting. We invite you to take a look.
