Our organization, Buddy Team, conducts home-visit support activities primarily within Tokyo with the goal of preventing child abuse.
Since 2007, we have been visiting families who are struggling with child-rearing due to various circumstances, providing support with childcare, housework, transportation, and learning assistance to stand by parents and children who tend to become isolated.
Through our ongoing activities, we have met a great number of families.
Whether due to economic hardship, physical or mental health issues, illness or disability, domestic violence, or being a single-parent household, families struggling with child-rearing face a variety of backgrounds and circumstances. They often become isolated, and sometimes, families find themselves unable to move forward on their own, making it difficult to reach out for help.
No one is to blame. This is not an individual responsibility, but a challenge for society as a whole.
Nothing will change if we continue to blame individuals or specific institutions. It is necessary to take the initiative and deliver support to families who need it.
There are things we can do.
There are things we can do precisely because we are not child consultation centers, local governments, or specialized professionals.
