BS NTV's "Golf Survival" May tournament, broadcast from 9 PM on Friday, May 8th, will take place at Ibaraki Royal Country Club in Ibaraki Prefecture. This is a hilly course with gentle undulations that make the most of the natural terrain, requiring advanced techniques at various points to conquer its varied greens.

This time, Saki Asai (27), winner of the 2019 CAT Ladies, makes her first appearance! This mother golfer, who returned to the tour in earnest after giving birth in 2023, reportedly changed her preferred shot from a draw to a fade just before the survival competition. She is undergoing rigorous training to regain her ideal swing and build her physique back to its prime. Her younger brother Yushi and younger sister Miki are both experienced in survival competitions. Yushi, who won the January "Golf Survival Men" tournament, reportedly gave her advice: "If you're going to make a mistake anyway, you might as well make it boldly." Can Asai, considered a strong contender, leverage her experience to overcome the younger players!?

From the professional members, Yuka Nii (23), with career earnings exceeding 80 million yen, and Ayame Sakuma (30), from Ibaraki Prefecture, will participate! Nii, skilled in approach shots, is a formidable player who competed in the 2024 U.S. Women's Open and has been training to strengthen her physique this season. She is keenly aiming for a survival victory! Sakuma, who was urgently called up due to a scheduled participant's sudden absence on the day, is moderately prepared but hopes to seize this opportunity to showcase her potential!

Amateur Ruu Sugita (18) is a third-year student in the Osaka Toin High School golf club. She trains diligently with Anna Iwanaga, a fellow club member and program winner, aiming to pass the professional test. Can she achieve an amateur victory like Iwanaga, using her strong putting as a weapon!? Haruma Miura (20), also an amateur, achieved second place in the prefectural shot put competition during junior high school. She aims to overwhelm others with her natural physique! Mizunako Sakaguchi (26), who advanced to the final professional test last year, specializes in her 58-degree wedge. She has honed her skills on the Taiwan tour for the past two years. Can she make this a breakthrough year with a survival victory!? Nanako Otani (24), a high school golf club contemporary of Miyuu Yamashita, is said to have developed a steel-like mentality through rigorous club practice. Inspired by her contemporary's success, she practices daily, aiming to stand on the same stage. Sayaka Kishi (26), who holds a Teaching Pro A-class qualification, Shiho Nakajo (24), who wears red socks for power as advised by fortune-telling, and Manami Hasegawa (21), who aims to pass the professional test while training at a golf course in Ibaraki, are among the 8 fresh new participants aiming for an upset! The battleground is Shirosato Golf Club, Out Course (Shirosato-machi, Ibaraki Prefecture). It is a spacious hilly course, where complex undulations on the greens enhance strategic play.

Of note is Shoto Yoshikawa (24), a graduate of Nihon University's golf club who passed the professional test last year. He has inherited the training methods of legend Hiroyuki Fujita and trains alongside him. Can he win the survival with talent recognized by Fujita himself!

Another young talent to watch! Ryo Takazuma (24) is expected to be a long hitter. He achieved a head speed of 55 meters per second after intense training! Can he demonstrate his results?

Hiroki Hidaka (39), the oldest participant this month, has overcome more than 10 years of difficult times and has recently started to regain momentum towards his 40s, winning regional tournaments!

Also, Katsumi Miyagawa (28), who fights with his approach and putter; Yuma Shinozaki (25), who employs unique training methods to resolve swing issues; Retsu Sakamoto (27), who challenges himself after overcoming bunker shot problems; Taiyo Fujiyama (27), who fights with a goal notebook to confront his weaknesses, advised by his wife, an internist; and Masaki Osada (31), an eccentric golfer who fights with the precision of his wedge... an interesting group of 10 has gathered!

Amidst harsh conditions of rain and wind that challenge the players, a survival battle where their respective passions intertwine is about to begin. Who will be the last one standing? Pay attention to the outcome of this fierce battle!
