The 'Nemuri Kyoshiro' series is a period drama adaptation of swordplay novels written by the late Renzaburo Shibata, a novelist who captured the hearts of the masses with numerous works demonstrating unbounded imagination and opened a new horizon of romance. The film adaptations star Raizo Ichikawa. The first film in the 'Nemuri Kyoshiro' series, a period drama starring Raizo Ichikawa based on Renzaburo Shibata's swordplay novels. Depicting the exploits of Nemuri Kyoshiro wielding his 'Full Moon Cut'. 'Nemuri Kyoshiro Sappojo' (Enter the Sword) Broadcast Dates: Monday, April 6 at 8:00 PM / Saturday, April 18 at 8:00 AM The first installment of the series featuring the role of a lifetime for the late superstar Raizo Ichikawa as 'Nemuri Kyoshiro'. Renzaburo Shibata's swordplay novel was adapted to film by director Tokuzo Tanaka of 'Zatoichi Kyojo Tabi'. The screenplay is by Seiji Hoshikawa, who would go on to work on 8 films in the series. It depicts a conspiracy surrounding the secret smuggling operations of the Kaga domain, and the aftermath of a revenge drama in which Kyoshiro gets involved. Highlights include the golden duo of Raizo and tragic heroine Tamao Nakamura, as well as the appearance of Kenzaburo Jo (later Tomisaburo Wakayama) playing a master of Shorinji Kempo.
