Bird Ship Aims to Reduce 'Want It But Can't Buy It' for Fandom Activities

Our company supports April Dream, a project to make April 1st a day for announcing dreams. This press release is a dream of "Bird Ship."

Korean purchasing agency service "Bird Ship" is a service that purchases Korean products that are difficult to buy in Japan on behalf of customers and delivers them to Japan. In November 2025, we introduced an AI automatic quotation function, allowing users to view product pages translated into Japanese by simply entering the Korean product page URL. Since the beginning of 2026, we have continuously improved functions, such as adding a mechanism to search for products by category, to make shopping even easier.

Bird Ship has set the dream of "Bird Ship supports your fandom activities" and will continue to work on further functional improvements and additions.

• Background of the Dream

Until now, the starting point for using Korean purchasing agency services was that customers had a clear idea of the "product they wanted."

Traditional flow:

"I want to buy this Korean product"

→ "But I don't have a Korean phone number, so I can't register as a member"

→ "Only supports domestic Korean shipping"

→ "Overseas issued cards cannot be used for payment"

→ Request an agency service

As such, until now, the service was primarily used when customers had decided on a product they wanted to buy.

Going forward, Bird Ship aims to become a more convenient service that customers can use from the stage of searching for products, not just acting as a purchasing agent.

Furthermore, the reason our service came to want to support "fandom activities" is that about half of the products purchased through us so far were related to fandom activities. We have seen diverse fandom needs, including K-POP idol related products, Korean limited editions of anime/manga/game/character goods, and Korean actor related goods. In some cases, customers even requested panda goods from a Korean zoo.

At Bird Ship, we define "fandom activities" not only as idols and anime characters but also as supporting any existence that one considers their "favorite," such as favorite actors, writers, designers, general goods, or animals. We want to be a presence that supports everyone's fandom activities.

• Future Initiatives

Bird Ship will continue to develop to further enhance the convenience of its website.

1. Support for Keyword Search

Until now, the primary method of use was to enter the URL of the product you wanted to purchase. Going forward, we aim to implement a function that allows users to search for products on Korean online shops by entering product names or keywords in Japanese. (Scheduled for release in early April 2026)

2. Personalized Fandom Activity Support

We aim to build a more individually optimized fandom activity support system, including recommending products and distributing new product release alerts based on customer's registered interests, order history, and search history.

3. Support for Diverse Payment Methods

Currently, we support credit card payments and bank transfers, but we are preparing to support even more diverse payment methods in the future.

• Thoughts from the Person in Charge

While Korea is a familiar country to Japan, it is still overseas. Even if you want to buy Korean products, it can be difficult to confirm the details because the website is in Korean. Furthermore, there are many hurdles to purchasing from Japan, such as member registration, payment, and international shipping.

In particular, Korean flea market sites, which are popular for purchasing fandom-related products, have their own unique culture, and transactions may not be completed simply by clicking the purchase button. It is not uncommon to need prior confirmation with the seller, and negotiations regarding stock status, price, and shipping methods.

First, we want to reduce as many barriers as possible that prevent customers from "buying products they want, but cannot." Beyond that, we envision realizing an experience where customers can purchase Korean products as if they were shopping at an online store in Japan. And furthermore, we want to improve the situation where gathering information in Korean itself is difficult.

The person in charge also has experience desperately ordering products from overseas artists, taking a long time, and waiting anxiously until they arrived. That is why, through Bird Ship, we want to support more free and enjoyable fandom activities with less anxiety.
