Be-s Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Higashiosaka City, Osaka; Representative Director: Hibiki Ogami), through its outdoor brand "DOD," will launch "Hiel Back-Su," a cooling attachment that allows users to attach ice packs to their bags or bodies to directly cool their backs, starting April 24, 2026.
The "sweaty back problem" plagues many office workers during commutes and outdoor activities in scorching heat. With record-high temperatures every year, existing solutions like "handy fans" face the problem of blowing hot air, and "PCM materials that freeze at 28℃" offer insufficient cooling. For the intense summer of 2026, DOD's answer was the extremely primitive yet rational "direct cooling by ice."
"Hiel Back-Su," an attachment designed to carry powerful camping ice packs or small ice packs lying dormant in freezers, solves the "sweaty back" issue in summer.

Feature ① 2-Way Design Supporting "On and Off" – From Commuting to Camping
By reconfiguring the included straps, it adapts to various situations from commuting to weekend outdoor work.
For backpacks: Suppresses back sweat during commutes to school or work, reducing discomfort upon arrival.
For the body: Worn alone to ensure coolness during tent setup, outdoor festivals, or gardening.
Feature ② Economical and Highly Efficient Cooling Method Using "Ice Packs You Have at Home"
The front side features multi-pockets that can store two "Futsuno Ice M" camping ice packs, which provide a -11℃ cooling effect, and four "small ice packs" on the back side. This economical design takes advantage of the common household situation where "powerful camping ice packs are available but rarely used on weekdays" or "ice packs are left over in the freezer." You can adjust the cooling level and weight according to the day's temperature and your attire.
Feature ③ Unique 3D Mesh Structure Where "Clothes Don't Get Wet from Condensation"
The thick "3D mesh" ensures an appropriate distance (air layer) from the body. It allows only comfortable cool air to pass through and releases moisture. We pursued a comfortable user experience, unlike conventional cooling vests, where you feel "cool, but your back is dry." Since it is machine washable, you can use it in a clean state every day.
Feature ④ Suppresses Back Temperature Rise by Approximately -15℃
We conducted a comparative experiment assuming a 30-minute walk commute on a sunny day at 30℃. When carrying a normal backpack, the back temperature rapidly rises, leading to a sweaty back. However, when using Hiel Back-Su (loaded with two Futsuno Ice M packs), the back temperature rise was suppressed by approximately -15℃. You can arrive at the office with a cool demeanor and head to your desk.
*Measurement values in our own test environment. Results may vary depending on temperature, humidity, and the condition of the ice packs used.
[Developer Interview] We Want to Save the Backs of Office Workers
The "sticky back problem" in summer, faced by those who carry backpacks 365 days a year
Nishi, the product planner who carries a backpack 365 days a year, focused on "back sweat" that bothers people during summer commutes. He started development to solve the problem of his own and other office workers' backs getting wet. Against the challenge that existing cooling goods often don't deliver enough coolness through clothes, the conclusion reached was the extremely simple one, typical of a camping manufacturer: "the physically frozen thing is the coldest."

DOD offers backpacks and bags that support all scenes, from camping to childcare and business.
"Back cooling" and "camping gear unused on weekdays" match
"Futsuno Ice," a camping ice pack sold by DOD, is a powerful ice pack that cools down to -11°C. It is essential for weekend leisure but rarely used on weekdays. The idea for this product was born from the flash of inspiration: "Can't this ice pack be repurposed for commuting?"
The challenges unique to powerful ice packs, such as "overcooling" and "clothes getting wet from condensation," were solved by adjusting the thickness of the "3D mesh." This is a truly waste-free proposal for heatstroke prevention, effectively utilizing ice packs that are dormant on weekdays to cool the back.

■A word from DOD staff
A word from Planner Nishi
I came up with this product when I found ice packs in the freezer that seemed to be idle on weekdays.
A word from PR Ogawa
Ice packs are essential for camping, but on days when I didn't go camping, I used to store them at room temperature in the closet. I thought this was normal, but after hearing the idea for "Hiel Back-Su"...
