The Story of Katagiri Mold Industry Co., Ltd. in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture

In 1947, the founder, who was involved in mold making at a watch manufacturer, became independent and took his first step as a mold manufacturing business at his home in Sumida Ward, Tokyo. The company became a limited liability company in 1956 and transitioned to a stock company in 1974. As the business expanded, the factory was relocated to Adachi Ward. Subsequently, in 1983, the base was moved to an industrial park in Tsukuba City (formerly Tsukuba Town), where there were connections, and a new factory was constructed the following year, leading to the present day. Katagiri Mold Industry has steadily advanced in response to the changing times.

The core of the business is mold manufacturing. Starting with toys in its early days, the company later expanded its scope to automotive parts. However, in response to changes in the industry environment, such as the advancement of plasticization, the company shifted to the home appliance and OA equipment fields upon relocating to Tsukuba. Growth continued, boosted by transactions with affiliated companies of major local corporations. Currently, the business operates with three main pillars: "Electrical Equipment," "OA Equipment," and "Office Furniture." The customer base is primarily manufacturers, with approximately half being listed companies and the remainder being small and medium-sized enterprises, forming a stable customer foundation.

The company has a lean team of 9 employees, including the president and the managing director. With 3 in design/administration, 4 in manufacturing, and 1 in sales (managing director), it is a small but elite team, with many members having long tenures. The workplace has a harmonious atmosphere, and the team is proactive and cooperative in their work. What Katagiri Mold Industry values most is "not compromising on quality." Their commitment to delivering excellent products without compromise has earned them the trust of their clients. Equipment, including large and high-precision machining centers, is also a strength, and they have continuously taken on challenges to stay ahead of the times with the philosophy of "creating what doesn't exist in the world."

The reason for seeking a successor this time is due to the representative, Mr. Katagiri's, poor health and inability to be on-site.
