The only fungicide classified in the new FRAC code subgroup '11A'
Exhibits high efficacy against major tea diseases

BASF Japan Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director & President: Hasibi Zeydam, hereinafter 'BASF') will launch 'Pavinco® Flowable,' a novel fungicide containing the active ingredient Pavecto® (compound name: methyltetraprole), on April 13, 2026. BASF will begin offering this product, the world's first agricultural fungicide featuring Pavecto® as an active ingredient, across Japan excluding Hokkaido.

Pavecto® is the only fungicidal active ingredient classified in the newly established '11A' subgroup by the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC). It has been confirmed that it does not show cross-resistance with existing fungicides belonging to Group 11, playing an important role in resistance management.

Pavinco® Flowable has currently obtained crop registration in Japan for tea, apples, and sugar beets. For tea, it exhibits excellent control efficacy against important diseases such as anthracnose, as well as gray blight and shoot blight, for which decreased sensitivity to existing pesticides has been recently reported. Especially in Japan, which is globally recognized as a production area for high-quality tea, the importance of pest and disease management is increasing due to the effects of climate change. By enabling effective control against a wide range of diseases, this product is expected to make a significant contribution to tea production.

Soichiro Fuji, Director of BASF Japan's Agricultural Solutions Division, stated:
'Following the launch of the insecticide "Efficon® SL" with a novel mode of action in March of this year, we are very pleased to be able to provide domestic growers with an innovative product featuring a novel mode of action. Pavinco® Flowable is a product that symbolizes BASF's strong R&D capabilities and our continuous commitment to providing sustainable solutions to farmers. As the importance of resistance management continues to grow, the unique mode of action of Pavinco® Flowable brings great value to producers in the field, particularly tea growers.'
