Atlassian Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Stuart Harrington) and its parent company, Australian software firm Atlassian Pty Ltd (collectively 'Atlassian'), have announced the general availability of 'Rovo Dev', a context-aware AI agent available within 'Jira', their project management tool for centralizing team work. This allows development teams to seamlessly progress from planning to code changes, test execution, and pull request creation/review all within Jira, starting from a work item, before even moving to an IDE.

This is an initiative to rebuild the daily development flow itself around Jira, rather than just abstract 'efficiency through AI'.

Rovo Dev is an AI agent that understands and supports the overall work of software development teams. Built on the Atlassian Teamwork Graph, it grasps the customer's company, projects, and goals, and cross-links tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jira Service Management.
Rovo Dev integrates not only code but also business context, documentation, tickets, and code history, enabling developers to always maintain a holistic view. A CLI (Command Line Interface) version was launched in October 2025, and now a feature to execute Rovo Dev directly from Jira has been added.

Specifically, with this Jira integration, it generates a concrete execution plan based on the requirements and past context included in a Jira work item. Once approved, it executes code changes and tests in a secure cloud sandbox, and links them back to the Jira work item as a reviewable pull request, realizing a 'Jira-driven practical development workflow'.

This enables software development teams to enjoy the following benefits:

1. Improved Productivity by Reducing Context Switching
Previously, tasks required jumping between multiple tools: planning in Jira, implementation in an IDE, and repositories/PRs in GitHub or BitBucket. By launching Rovo Dev from Jira, this is drastically reduced. The flow of 'Open work item -> Launch Rovo Dev -> Check PR when complete' is finalized within Jira, making it easier for developers to focus on higher-difficulty design and reviews. Since the practical flow from 'work item to PR' can proceed without interruption, context switching is further suppressed.

2. Track and Share Results Across the Entire Team
The starting point of work and the deliverables (such as PRs) are linked to Jira work items, and Rovo Dev's plans and progress are visualized within Jira. Non-engineers, such as product managers and designers, can also understand what changes the AI made from the familiar Jira work item screen.

3. Parallel Execution and Automation
