Artwork by Nobuyori Ishida

Atelier Etoile Co., Ltd. will hold a children's workshop, "Let's Create Future Coins with an Artist," with artist Nobuyori Ishida at the 57th Holiday Promenade "Yukata de Ginbura 2026" on August 1, 2026.

Inspired by the history of the coin mint that was the origin of Ginza, this workshop is a creative program where children will freely imagine and shape "coins that will exist in future Ginza" using materials that have completed their role.

Imagining the Future from Ginza's History

Ginza is a town named after the "Ginza Yakusho" (Ginza Mint Office), a facility for minting silver coins, which was established here in 1612.

Using Ginza's history as a starting point, this workshop poses the questions:

"If there were new coins in future Ginza?" "What shape would they be, and what patterns would be depicted on them?"

Starting from these questions, each child will create their own original future coin with their unique ideas.

Through this creation process, children will not only experience history and culture but also learn to give form to their own thoughts and broaden their ideas through dialogue with others.

Creating with Artist Nobuyori Ishida

Nobuyori Ishida is an artist known for his work that finds new value in everyday materials and objects that have completed their role, transforming them into art.

In this workshop, through dialogue with Ishida, children will experience not only the joy of making things and expressing themselves but also the fun and challenges of trial and error.

They will also realize through the creation process that even things that seem to have completed their role can generate new value and possibilities by changing one's perspective or way of thinking.

This program values the creative process itself – "thinking," "making," and "dialoguing" – not just the finished product, and aims to foster each child's free ideas and perspectives.

Atelier Etoile's Art Education Activities

Atelier Etoile develops art education and cultural exchange activities connecting France and Japan.

We create opportunities for children to think, converse, and encounter diverse values through art, and we plan and operate educational programs in collaboration with museums, cultural facilities, and local governments.

"Ginza is a special town where the history of Japanese craftsmanship and culture has accumulated.

Through this workshop, we want children not only to learn about history but also to feel that they themselves are creators who imagine and shape the future of Ginza.

We hope you will experience the free ideas and surprises that arise through dialogue with the artist."
