Asterminds Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Shinjiro Honda) has conducted a 'Survey on Generative AI Usage and Organizational Challenges' targeting 85 individuals, primarily employees of large corporations and generative AI users. The survey was conducted using the company's AI hearing agent, 'InTake,' and the resulting report has now been published.

This survey has brought to light a new business challenge: 'Solo DX,' a state where generative AI usage is confined to the 'closed room' of an individual's PC screen and is not being converted into organizational knowledge.

Background of the Survey and the Strengths of 'AI Hearing' Conventional multiple-choice surveys can reveal 'usage frequency' or 'tools introduced,' but they fail to capture the 'true frustrations and underlying expectations' of users, or the 'constraints and rules' behind them.

Attempting to gather such deep-level information through interviews is often limited to small-scale studies due to the time and cost required for scheduling and staffing, making it difficult to ensure the representativeness of the opinions.

Therefore, this survey utilized our AI hearing agent, 'InTake.' By having the AI perform 'in-depth follow-up questions' in real-time based on the respondent's answers, we collected a large volume of free-text data containing honest opinions and insights that were difficult to obtain using traditional methods.

Survey Highlights 1. Discovery of a New Business Challenge: 'Solo DX' The survey results revealed that while some high-performers are increasing their productivity through individual initiative, that knowledge is becoming a 'black box' and is not being transformed into the strength of the organization as a whole. We have defined this state as 'Solo DX.'

2. 'Three Structural Distortions' Hindering Organizational Growth Behind 'Solo DX' lie the following three types of twists (structural distortions), and we found that resolving these is essential for promoting organizational AI adoption.

3. 'Five Personas' Lurking in the Field Revealed Through AI Dialogue Analysis of the qualitative information (individual thoughts and actions) obtained through AI hearing revealed that approaches to generative AI can be broadly categorized into the following five personas:

- 'My Alter Ego' Business Transformation Pioneer (15.9%) - 'Reliable Ace Secretary' Practical Efficiency Meister (29.3%) - 'Deploy Digital Employees' Organizational Transformation Commander (13.4%) - 'Company AI is Incompetent' Shadow AI Practitioner (24.4%) - 'It's Just a Dictionary/Tool' Cool Realist (17.1%)

The most common group was the 'Practical Efficiency Meister' (29.3%), who uses AI to streamline daily tasks such as taking minutes and organizing documents. On the other hand, the 'Shadow AI Practitioner' (24.4%), who is dissatisfied with company-provided tools and secretly uses personal accounts, was the second largest group, highlighting the disconnect between the organization and the individual.

Keeping in mind that these diverse personas exist within a company, it is necessary to proactively address their respective frustrations and anxieties through measures such as 'official introduction of high-performance models (special zone certification)' and 'updating evaluation systems.'

The results of this survey are not limited to a specific industry but represent a structural challenge common to many companies that have introduced generative AI.

We will continue to conduct surveys using the AI hearing agent 'InTake' and will continue to share challenges and prescriptions for corporate AI utilization.
