The Asian Clean Fuels Association (ACFA), a non-profit organization promoting air quality improvement and decarbonization through the supply of clean and efficient fuels, will hold a seminar on international trends in biofuels and the direction of fuel policy on Tuesday, April 21 in Akasaka, Tokyo.

As the transition to decarbonization progresses, Japan is currently considering a shift to high-concentration biofuels (E10/E20), and there is a need to examine how to proceed with future fuel policies from a comprehensive perspective.

In this seminar, the first hosted by our organization in Japan, we will address how the use of oxygenated compounds (ethers, ethanol, etc.) and differences in fuel characteristics (volatility, octane, composition, etc.) affect emissions, public health, the environment, gasoline prices, and engine performance. On the day of the event, we will invite experts involved in policy formation and technology development from various countries. Based on the Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES) developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), life cycle analysis (LCA) of gasoline, and actual fuel data, we will hold data-driven discussions and explain the latest international insights surrounding land and marine biofuel policies.

In addition, a networking event will be held after the seminar to allow participants to exchange information. This is a valuable opportunity to gain a broad perspective on the future of fuel policy, so please join us.
