The Chain Museum Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masamichi Tohyama), operator of the art communication platform 'ArtSticker,' has partnered with BAKE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Eiichi Kasai), which operates the butter sandwich specialty store 'PRESS BUTTER SAND,' to launch the 'SWEETS MEETS ART' project. This initiative features a four-part collaboration series in which emerging artists' artworks—expressing the taste of sweets—are used as packaging designs for the premium 'PRESS BUTTER SAND GALLERY' series.

As the fourth and final installment of the project, 'Butter Sand (Rum Raisin)' with a collaborative package designed by artist Shoichi Okumura will be available nationwide starting Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Additionally, this product will be available in advance for members of the 'BAKE Membership Program' starting Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

<Final Chapter> The Grand Finale: 'Butter Sand (Rum Raisin)'

A gradient from purple to pink artistically captures the moment when the aroma of rum raisin fills the mouth

The 'SWEETS MEETS ART' project, which has featured young artists expressing the flavor of confections through art on packaging across four editions, concludes with 'Butter Sand (Rum Raisin).' The cream is blended with rum-soaked raisins, releasing a soft, fragrant aroma of rum with every bite. Paired with the slightly bitter, aromatic cocoa cookies, the result is a rich and sophisticated flavor profile.

The packaging design is by artist Shoichi Okumura, who translates the sensory experience of tasting the product into visual art. Drawing from traditional motifs such as East Asian landscape paintings and mandalas, Okumura uniquely blends classical symbols of auspiciousness with modern objects to depict a contemporary paradise.

The cookies use high-quality cocoa that complements confections, offering a smooth bitterness. Art Concept for the 4th Edition

The rich aroma of rum raisin upon the first bite is expressed through a shifting gradient from purple to pink. Behind the striking female figure enveloped in purple, a grapevine symbolizing raisins is illustrated.

Above the rum bottle in the lower right, ethereal figures of celestial nymphs, butterflies, and birds—symbols of good fortune (※)—rise with the fragrance. On the opposite side of the can, a helicopter represents modernity, blending classical and contemporary motifs into Okumura’s unique vision of a modern paradise.

The woman riding a motorcycle into the wind evokes a sense of exoticism and journey, mirroring the deep, complex flavor of the rum raisin.

※Auspiciousness: A sign of good fortune; an omen of positive events.

About 'PRESS BUTTER SAND GALLERY'

'PRESS BUTTER SAND GALLERY' is a premium series by 'PRESS BUTTER SAND' dedicated to creating sweets that stimulate the senses through experimentation and practice. Treating the brand’s signature 45mm × 45mm square butter sandwich as a canvas, the series explores the limits of creative expression. Aiming not only to delight sweet lovers but also to attract those who rarely indulge, the series seeks to maximize emotional experiences by combining confections with diverse elements, crafting sensory 'sweet experiences' that resonate with the five senses and sensibility.

About PRESS BUTTER SAND

Launched in 2017 inside Tokyo Station, 'PRESS BUTTER SAND' has expanded to department stores across Japan and internationally. The cookies are baked using the traditional Japanese confectionery technique 'hasami-yaki,' which removes excess oil for optimal texture and flavor. With simple ingredients, the sandwich features two layers: a butter caramel and butter cream that highlight the natural richness of butter, sandwiched between crisp cookie layers.
