Toyochem and FunPep Enter into Joint Research Agreement on Transdermal Formulation of Antibody-Inducing Peptides

Toyochem Co., Ltd. and FunPep Co., Ltd. have announced the signing of a joint research agreement to develop a transdermal formulation for antibody-inducing peptides.

Antibody-inducing peptides are peptide therapeutic vaccines expected to provide therapeutic effects by inducing the production of antibodies against target proteins within the patient's body.

FunPep is strengthening its R&D pipeline by utilizing its drug discovery platform technology for antibody-inducing peptides, characterized by the functional peptide "AJP001," to create candidate compounds for various target proteins.

Toyochem serves as the core of the polymer and coating-related business for the artience group. With a focus on the medical and healthcare sectors, the company is engaged in the development of transdermal formulations, adhesives, and biocompatible polymers. In the transdermal formulation sector, Toyochem conducts CDMO operations, providing contract research and manufacturing services for numerous pharmaceutical companies. By integrating formulation design, polymer development, and coating technologies, Toyochem aims to realize "safe and skin-friendly transdermal formulations."

This joint research aims to develop a transdermal formulation of antibody-inducing peptides as a next-generation therapeutic technology that offers lower invasiveness compared to injections, as well as superior convenience and safety. FunPep will conduct efficacy and safety evaluations in animal studies, while Toyochem will focus on investigating the formulation of these peptides for transdermal application.
