The Asian Rural Institute (ARI) is a training center for rural leaders from developing countries in Asia, Africa, and beyond. Founded in 1973 in Nasu-Shiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture, ARI aims to cultivate grassroots leaders who can help realize a society where we 'Learn to Live Together.' Every year, about 25 mid-career leaders involved in rural development projects are dispatched as students from approximately 15 countries for a 9-month program. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, ARI has seen about 1,400 graduates from 62 countries active in rural areas worldwide. For the 2026 fiscal year, ARI will once again host 'Chokotto Farm & Forest,' inviting participants to touch the soil and connect with the world through collaborative work on the campus.
