The Texel Floor Construction Method Association (operated by Gifu Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. and Arai-gumi Co., Ltd.) will exhibit at "EDIX (Education Comprehensive Exhibition) Tokyo 2026," Japan's largest education exhibition, held from May 13 to 15 at Tokyo Big Sight.
At this exhibition, we will showcase an overlay method that maintains shock absorption and a portable type that can be easily installed and removed.
The Texel Floor Construction Method is a new, labor-saving direct-lay method applied directly to concrete subfloors. The subfloor material consists of an elastic layer and a resin honeycomb panel called "Texel."
It provides uniform hardness no matter where you step, and ball rebound is also consistent. It is also an ideal recovery method for renovation, as an "overlay" suitable for restoring aging floors.
Currently, there is a very high demand for floor renovation in gymnasiums and similar facilities in Japan, due to aging deterioration such as splintering of wooden floors. To keep costs down, the "overlay method" of layering new flooring over aging flooring is often adopted.
However, with conventional overlay methods, the flooring becomes double-layered, making it very hard and significantly impairing the shock-absorbing effect necessary for exercise. The Texel Floor Construction Method, however, is a method where the shock-absorbing effect is not impaired even when overlaid.
Furthermore, incorporating the Texel Floor Construction Method increases heat retention compared to conventional methods.
It is featured in "Regarding Air Conditioning Equipment and Insulation for School Gymnasiums Serving as Evacuation Centers," published by the Japan Association for Educational Facilities.
