Bar Toki, located within the hot spring auberge "Kanshukuen ESHIKOTO" in Eiheiji Town, Fukui Prefecture—operated by Aqua Ignis Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Tetsuya Tachibana)—has received the Gold Award, the highest honor, at the globally prestigious "iF DESIGN AWARD 2026."
The "iF DESIGN AWARD" is an international design competition organized by iF International Forum Design GmbH, based in Hanover, Germany. It evaluates outstanding designs from multifaceted perspectives, including innovation, functionality, and sustainability. Among these, the "Gold Award" is presented only to exceptionally superior designs.
White walls softly partition the water basin, and within them lies a small indoor space enclosed by glass. These white walls, which relate to both the interior and exterior, blur the boundaries. Despite being a space of only about 8 tsubo (approx. 26 square meters), it creates an environment where architecture, interior design, and landscape are felt as a single entity. It was designed as a space that can be experienced as "a single place," set against the backdrop of the satoyama landscape, which can be considered the original scenery of Japan.
We invite you to enjoy a special drink at Bar Toki during your stay, while quietly feeling the passage of nature and time.
