Anritsu Corporation (President: Koichi Hamada) has launched a software-defined radio (SDR) solution combining the Universal RF Unit MD8190A, capable of wireless signal transmission/reception and wideband IQ data recording, with the control software IQ Control Hub Software MX819040PC.
This solution integrates with MATLAB®, a widely used numerical computing and analysis environment in R&D, enabling seamless wireless signal transmission, reception, and analysis. The SDR hardware features a compact, lightweight design, supporting evaluations from laboratory benchtop setups to outdoor and mobile environments. This contributes to improved efficiency in the design, verification, and evaluation of advanced wireless technologies such as 6G.
Development Background
In the R&D of next-generation wireless technologies like 6G, efficient execution of communication scheme design, signal verification, and data analysis is crucial for shortening development cycles and enhancing evaluation accuracy. However, differing measurement instruments and data formats across stages create burdens in data migration, conversion, and integration, hindering efficient evaluation. Additionally, field testing in real-world environments requires dedicated measurement equipment tailored to specific communication schemes, along with challenges related to performance, installation conditions, and power supply.
To address these issues, Anritsu has developed a solution that integrates MATLAB®-based wireless waveform design and analysis environments with a lightweight, compact software-defined radio (SDR) device.
Product Overview
The solution consists of the hardware component Universal RF Unit MD8190A and the software component IQ Control Hub Software MX819040PC.
The MD8190A is an SDR device equipped with arbitrary waveform generation and wideband IQ data recording capabilities. It supports evaluations ranging from benchtop testing in laboratories to field testing powered by external batteries.
MX819040PC is software that controls the MD8190A and enables wireless evaluation environments. By integrating with MATLAB®, it establishes a unified workflow centered on common IQ data, enabling efficient evaluation that bridges design and real-world measurement—from waveform design to over-the-air transmission, reception, and analysis.
