Amana Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Takeaki Kaneko), a company that realizes communication transformation through creativity, has been a project partner for "LAVENDER RING" since its launch in 2017. The project is co-operated by volunteers from Dentsu Inc., Shiseido Co., Ltd., and the non-profit organization CancerNet Japan (CNJ).
Amana has been in charge of photo production and poster design for "MAKEUP & PHOTOS WITH SMILES," supporting communication that delivers the smiles and thoughts of each cancer survivor to society through photography, now entering its 10th year.
In 2026, the "2026 MAKEUP & PHOTOS WITH SMILES" photo event and poster exhibition for cancer survivors will be held in Tokyo, Aichi, and Osaka.
"LAVENDER RING" is a project that aims to realize a society where "cancer survivors" who live while experiencing cancer can live authentically with a smile. Due to medical progress, the number of cancer survivors balancing treatment and social life is increasing year by year. On the other hand, many people face physical, mental, and socio-economic problems, such as anxiety about aftereffects and recurrence, and challenges in employment and returning to society. "LAVENDER RING" uses "lavender," the symbol color for all types of cancer, to change prejudices and stereotypes against cancer survivors and continues to work toward a society where everyone can live as themselves.
"MAKEUP & PHOTOS WITH SMILES" is an initiative where, after receiving makeup lessons from Shiseido staff and advice from hair and makeup artists, photographers capture the individual's charm and smile, which are then published as posters along with the person's message. Since its first event in 2017, it has been held 42 times in 7 countries and regions, with approximately 1,200 cancer survivors participating so far.
Amana has been responsible for the photo production and poster design for "MAKEUP & PHOTOS WITH SMILES" since the project's inception in 2017. By carefully drawing out the expressions, stories, and thoughts of each participant and delivering them to society through photographic expression, they have supported the dissemination of the message "living authentically even after having cancer." In addition, the produced posters are displayed to society, visualizing the real voices and appearances of cancer survivors, thereby promoting social understanding and dialogue.
