Ohkawa Denki Seisakusho Co., Ltd. (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Susumu Koike; hereinafter "Ohkawa Denki Seisakusho"), a precision machining company within the Alconix Group, has crafted the championship trophy presented to the winning horse owner at the "75th Radio Nikkei Sho," held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Fukushima Racecourse (organized by Japan Racing Association; donated by Nikkei Radio Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Radio Nikkei")).
The trophy was commissioned by Radio Nikkei and crafted by Ohkawa Denki Seisakusho. Inspired by Fukushima's traditional craft, the "Akabeko," the trophy was precision-machined from aluminum—a core strength of Ohkawa Denki Seisakusho—and coated with pure gold plating. The Akabeko, symbolizing hopes for Fukushima's recovery and prosperity, was named "Fukko Hagiū" ("Prosperous Radiant Bull") by Radio Nikkei.

Background of the Trophy Creation
Founded in 1951 in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Ohkawa Denki Seisakusho is a precision machining manufacturer. In 1998, it transferred its manufacturing operations to its Fukushima Plant and established the Kamigokura Plant in 2016, expanding its local presence and growing its business in close alignment with the region.
Meanwhile, the "Radio Nikkei Sho" was first established in 1952 as the "Nakayama 4-Year-Old Stakes." Radio Nikkei began sponsoring the race in 1959. It was relocated to Fukushima Racecourse in 1979 and renamed the "Radio Tanpa Sho," before adopting its current name in 2006. Over the years, it has become a beloved graded stakes race among horse racing fans. The opportunity for Ohkawa Denki Seisakusho to create the trophy arose due to several factors: Mr. Kotemori, who became President of Radio Nikkei in 2024, is a native of Fukushima Prefecture; Ohkawa Denki Seisakusho has deep roots and ongoing operations in Fukushima; and the company's video showcasing an aluminum-machined "Akabeko" caught attention.
The "Akabeko" is traditionally known as a papier-mâché craft made by layering paper over a wooden mold. For this trophy, the company created new value by precision-machining the figure from aluminum and applying pure gold plating. Through extensive trial and error, the team successfully reproduced the Akabeko's distinctive wobbling neck.
This trophy, embodying hopes for Fukushima's recovery and continued prosperity, stands as a fitting symbol of the weight of effort behind victory and the value of achievement.
