Akuru Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Osamu Kondo, hereinafter "Akuru"), which provides solutions for credit card payment fraud prevention, has commenced offering its fraud detection and authentication system "ASUKA" to Yamazen Bizcom Online Shop, operated by Yamazen Corporation (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Osaka; President and CEO: Koji Kishida, hereinafter "Yamazen").
**■Background and Overview of ASUKA Provision**
Despite the industry-wide strengthening of fraud prevention measures due to the mandatory implementation of EMV 3-D Secure in April 2025, the Japan Credit Association announced that the damage from credit card number theft reached 47.5 billion JPY*1 in 2025, remaining at a high level.
Against this backdrop, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry published the "Credit Card Security Guidelines"*2 in March 2026, requesting card merchants operating e-commerce sites to implement appropriate security measures.
Card merchants must equip their systems with security capabilities that can respond to every stage of a transaction to protect a "safe purchasing experience," building fraud countermeasures from a preventive perspective rather than merely reactive measures.
Yamazen Bizcom Online Shop had previously implemented its own fraud prevention measures and EMV 3-D Secure. While the introduction of EMV 3-D Secure reduced chargebacks, a high authorization failure rate remained a challenge. Aiming to improve revenue through better payment approval rates and reduce the labor previously spent on manual fraud checks, Yamazen Bizcom decided to adopt the credit card fraud detection and authentication system "ASUKA."
"ASUKA" is an advanced security system that detects signs of fraudulent use in real-time and automatically performs card authentication based on transaction information and attribute data.
Going forward, Akuru will collaborate with Yamazen to contribute to reducing fraudulent use, thereby improving payment approval rates, increasing revenue, and supporting the realization of a safe and secure e-commerce site.
