This demonstration will verify a monitoring technology that non-contactually detects residents' presence by analyzing fluctuations in Wi-Fi signals. The experiment will be conducted at "Yurari Showakan," a service-equipped senior housing facility in Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture.
The objective of this demonstration is to verify whether non-contact monitoring technology can be practically introduced in rental housing from technical, operational, and economic perspectives.
Background: Aging Population and Structural Challenges in Rental Housing While Japan is experiencing a declining birthrate, its population is aging, and single-person elderly households are expected to continue increasing.
Meanwhile, with increasing vacancies in rental housing, many owners are cautious about accepting elderly residents due to concerns about risks such as deaths from loneliness. Consequently, many elderly individuals experience rejection from rental housing based on their age. As a result,

Wi-Fi sensing is a technology that estimates human movement and presence by analyzing subtle changes in Wi-Fi signals. It allows for monitoring while respecting privacy, as it can ascertain living situations without using cameras.
