AD Works Group Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Hideo Tanaka, President and CEO; hereinafter "ADWG"), through its subsidiary A.D. Works Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshiya Suzuki; hereinafter "ADW"), which promotes the income-producing real estate business, is pleased to announce that the "ADW Mie Matsusaka Battery Storage Station," the first grid-scale battery storage facility for ADW, has completed its full grid connection and commenced operations following a completion ceremony held on January 27 of this year.
The grid-scale battery storage business is positioned as a new venture that supports the realization of our corporate vision. We will continue to make proactive investments in this business.
1. First Grid-Scale Battery Storage Facility, Essential for the Spread of Renewable Energy, Begins Operation
In recent years, as digital transformation (DX) progresses and the shift from fossil fuels to electricity accelerates, power demand continues to rise. The government has set a goal to increase the ratio of renewable energy to 40% or more by 2040. To ensure a stable supply of renewable energy, which is susceptible to natural cycles and fluctuations in power generation, the widespread adoption of grid-scale battery storage stations—which can respond to output fluctuations and balance power supply and demand—is essential.
ADW has been working on the development of grid-scale battery storage stations since 2025. The "ADW Mie Matsusaka Battery Storage Station," which is our first facility and was completed in January of this year, has now completed test runs and full grid connection (*), and has begun operations.
We will first begin operations in the JEPX wholesale electricity market, and after a certain monitoring period, we plan to enter the supply-demand adjustment market.
* Full grid connection: The state in which an independent "grid-scale battery (storage station)" is physically and technically connected to the power transmission and distribution network (grid) managed by an electric power company, allowing for the exchange of electricity.
ADW will continue to actively acquire land and invest in equipment, aiming to expand the scale of its business.
