Advantech and FORT Robotics Co-develop Safe Physical AI Technology on MIC-735

On March 17, 2026, Advantech Co., Ltd. (Taiwan, TWSE: 2395; hereinafter referred to as Advantech) announced that it will further expand its edge AI product lineup with the upcoming release of the MIC-735 equipped with the NVIDIA IGX™ T5000. This product is based on the NVIDIA IGX Thor™ platform and enables real-time physical AI at the edge by integrating high-speed sensor processing, enterprise-class high reliability, and functional safety.

To meet mission-critical field requirements, Advantech has joined the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab and collaborated with FORT Robotics (hereinafter "FORT") to integrate its embedded safety architecture into the MIC-735. NVIDIA® operates the world's first ANAB-accredited AI Systems Inspection Lab, integrating functional safety, cybersecurity, AI, and regulatory requirements. This collaboration enables highly reliable and SIL-certified level control for applications targeting robots and AMRs.

NVIDIA Halos is a full-stack safety system for physical AI that integrates and manages safety elements from vehicle and robot architectures to AI models. It combines hardware, software, tools, models, and design principles to support the safety assurance of AI-based end-to-end autonomous driving and robotics systems.

Magic Pao, Vice President of Advantech, stated:

"The adoption of physical AI requires not just computational performance, but also the integration of safety and control. Through our collaboration with FORT Robotics and the utilization of the NVIDIA IGX Thor platform, we are providing an integrated foundation that balances high performance with the highest level of safety."

Amod Damle, Product Lead at FORT Robotics, commented:

"Safety should be at the core of design, not an afterthought. By integrating functional safety into edge AI platforms, we provide an environment where robot developers can confidently scale in complex and dynamic environments, enabling safe and efficient operation across various applications."

Unprecedented Edge AI Computing Performance with NVIDIA IGX Thor™

The MIC-735 is a production-ready edge AI inference system that delivers up to 2,070 FP4 TFLOPS of computational performance. Based on NVIDIA IGX safety requirements, Advantech has integrated functional safety into the platform and validated its implementation and integration through the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab. This system integrates onboard and external sensor data to accelerate the "ideation to implementation" process for physical AI.

Architecture Integrated with Functional Safety

The MIC-735 is designed with integrated functional safety, based on the NVIDIA IGX Thor reference design. It also supports direct integration with the FORT Nano Safety Controller Pro (NSC Pro). This embedded safety controller allows ecosystem partners who wish to implement "outside-in" robot functional safety to reliably receive and execute safety commands from external sources within the machine's architecture, reducing risks in real-time.

Furthermore, the MIC-735 supports 10 years of long-term operation and the NVIDIA AI Enterprise-IGX software stack, enabling application development using the following platforms:

For functional safety management, dynamic changes to safety settings are possible through APIs provided by FORT's ecosystem, facilitating easy integration with existing enterprise systems.

Sensor Synchronization and Robust Connectivity

The MIC-735, integrating NVIDIA Holoscan and Holoscan Sensor Bridge, achieves high-bandwidth, high-precision synchronized communication between multiple sensors and AI processors. It supports operating temperatures from -30°C to 60°C and features high-speed interfaces such as 5G and SFP28 (4x25GbE). From a safety perspective, input signals are routed through the FORT Endpoint Controller (EPC) and securely connected to the NSC Pro via a dedicated protocol.

Robotics Design for Real-world Operation

The solution combining the MIC-735 and FORT's technology is optimized for robots and AMRs. It provides SIL-certified real-time Emergency Stop (E-Stop) functionality over secure wireless or IP networks, even in complex terrain environments. It also supports fleet-wide command transmission via the Endpoint Controller and local control of individual AMRs using Wireless E-Stop Pro and Safe Remote Control Pro. By merging NVIDIA's AI technology with FORT Robotics' safety design, the MIC-735 offers safe, high-performance edge computing for robotics and autonomous systems while reducing development and integration burdens.

Exhibited at NVIDIA GTC 2026

Advantech exhibited at NVIDIA GTC 2026, held in San Jose, USA, from March 16-19, 2026, showcasing the joint solution by Advantech and FORT Robotics at booth #1134. They are also planning to exhibit the MIC-735 at this week's Japan IT Week (April 8-10).
