ABEMA, the "new future TV," will exclusively broadcast a special program for the new summer anime "Behind the Supermarket, Two People Smoking," titled "Behind the Supermarket, Two People Smoking" Special Program ~Three People Chatting on an ABEMA Special~, for free starting July 4, 2026 (Saturday) at 8:30 PM.

"Behind the Supermarket, Two People Smoking" is a slice-of-life human drama based on the manga of the same name serialized in Monthly "Big Gangan" (Square Enix) by Jinushi. It depicts the moments when Sasaki, a middle-aged salaryman tired from work, and Tayama, a mysterious woman working at the supermarket he frequents, exchange words while smoking cigarettes behind the store. Praised by many readers as a "two-faced cigarette story" that delicately portrays the slightly unusual connections between adults in everyday life, it won first place in the Web Manga division of "Next Manga Award 2022" and has surpassed 3 million copies in cumulative circulation. The long-awaited TV anime broadcast is scheduled to begin in July 2026, and the interactions between the two characters depicted in animation are drawing much attention.

The special program "Behind the Supermarket, Two People Smoking" Special Program ~Three People Chatting on an ABEMA Special~, which will be exclusively broadcast for free on ABEMA, will feature main cast members Takuya Sato (as Sasaki), Narisa Hoshiki (as Yamada/Tayama), and Shinya Takahashi (as Suzuki). They will thoroughly explain the appeal of the work and characters in preparation for the terrestrial broadcast starting July 9 (Thursday). In line with the theme of the work, a talk segment will also be held with "Cocoa Cigarettes" in hand.

Sasaki is a middle-aged man who has been running down the path of a corporate slave. His quiet solace is his daily cigarette and the cheerful service of Yamada, a female store clerk at the supermarket he frequents. One night, tired from work, he heads to the supermarket seeking solace, but Yamada, his target, is not there, and there's nowhere to smoke these days...
