Solving Regional Medical Challenges in Islands and Urban Areas: 'Circular Home-visit Medical Care Project' Launched

Medical Corporation Cocoromi (hereinafter referred to as Cocoromi) will start the 'Circular Home-visit Medical Care Project' in April 2026. This initiative aims to build a sustainable regional medical care system by utilizing both the 'perspective of identifying appropriate care for individuals' gained from remote island medical fields and the 'human resources, technology, and management base' of urban clinics.

In remote islands, the challenge is how to deliver necessary medical care to patients with limited resources. In Hachijojima, for instance, the lack of a home-visit medical care system often meant patients didn't have the option to spend their final days at home. This led Cocoromi to realize that 'medical care is not just providing treatment, but the foundation that supports the state where people can choose their way of life with peace of mind.'

On the other hand, in urban areas, as the need for home medical care increases, the concentration of burden on certain medical institutions and the imbalance of medical resources across regions have become evident. This makes it difficult to provide attentive care tailored to each patient's lifestyle and physical/mental state.

This project aims to solve regional medical challenges by utilizing the insights gained from both environments. By combining the perspective and attitude of facing individuals cultivated in island medicine with the stability of urban clinics, it will build a system where patients can make convinced choices and medical professionals can continue to work with peace of mind. The project will initially start with home-visit medical care in urban areas and aims to evolve into a sustainable 'regional medical circulation model' in the future.
