Introduction of Railway Electrical Facilities Maintenance Management System REFMa at Tsukuba Express

Metropolitan Intercity Railway Company (President: Ryo Watanabe; Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), the operator of Tsukuba Express (TX), began considering the introduction of REFMa (Railway Electrical Facilities Maintenance Management System) developed by Tokyo Metro (President: Akiyoshi Kosaka; Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo) in FY2024 and fully implemented it in April 2026.

In line with the direction of "High-dimensional Safety and Stability Initiatives" set forth in the Long-term Vision 2050 formulated in FY2025, and following the "Advancement of Maintenance through Digital Technology and AI" stipulated in the FY2026 Business Plan, the company is promoting the introduction of digital technology.

This system digitizes and automates tasks such as maintenance planning and registration of inspection results for electrical facilities. With this introduction, what was previously paper-based inspection management can now be managed centrally on the system, including planning, inspection, and results. By digitizing railway electrical maintenance operations, the company will electronicize, standardize, and automate planning and inspection tasks, realizing quality maintenance and improvement, prevention of human error, and enhanced productivity.

TX will continue to promote the advancement of maintenance utilizing digital technology and AI. Through the introduction of this system, we aim to maintain and improve the quality of electrical facility maintenance, prevent human error, and achieve higher productivity.
