As part of the 'Miyakonojo Resource Circulation Forest Project (ODEN),' Kirishima Shuzo Co., Ltd., together with Starbucks Coffee Japan, Miyakonojo City, and the general incorporated association more trees, has launched a new initiative. They have begun selling the 'ODEN Stool,' identical to those used at 'KIRISHIMA GREENSHIP icoia,' on the official more trees website, with a portion of sales being donated back to forest creation in Miyakonojo City. The ODEN project involves making compost from shochu lees and coffee grounds, which is then used to grow seedlings from acorns of local Quercus gilva trees. The 'ODEN Stool' is named to symbolize this activity and is carefully crafted by artisans using the same Miyakonojo-sourced wood. Through this stool, even people living far away can participate in Miyakonojo's reforestation efforts.
