Recruitment Begins for the 2nd 'FOOD SHIFT Selection'

## Purpose
As part of the 'Nippon Food Shift' project, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has been calling for outstanding products since fiscal 2025 to encourage the proactive selection of domestic agricultural, forestry, and fishery products, promoting their appeal as the 'FOOD SHIFT Selection.'

## Application Details
### Eligibility
Businesses in Japan registered as 'Nippon Food Shift' promotion partners (including agricultural, forestry, and fishery producers).
(Note) Even if not currently registered, businesses can apply by registering now.

### Eligible Products
Agricultural, forestry, fishery products, or processed foods that contribute to the sustainable supply of food and the proactive selection of domestic products.
Products must fall under one of the following:
- Products contributing to local production for local consumption or the expansion of domestic product consumption
- Products contributing to the advancement of the 'Green Food System Strategy'
- Products contributing to the expansion of the home food stockpiling market
- Products contributing to the expansion of inbound consumption

MAFF is also actively seeking products related to post-earthquake reconstruction efforts and themes associated with GREEN×EXPO 2027.

### Application Period
From Monday, May 25, 2026, to Monday, July 27, 2026.

### Application Method
Applications can be submitted via the online form on the official website (https://nippon-food-shift.maff.go.jp/2026/aw_selection.html). Screening will be conducted through written evaluations and tastings.

## Selection Results
After an initial document screening by the secretariat to select 100 products, a final screening by expert judges through tasting will determine 10 'Grand Prize' winners and 90 'Excellence Award' winners.
