Have fun learning about regional technologies and materials at the Architecture Playground!

From Thursday, April 30 to Monday (Holiday), October 12, 2026, the 'Architecture Play!' exhibition will take place at the Handa Red Brick Building Gallery in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture. In collaboration with partners (local architectural companies and craftsmen), we will create a 'playground' utilizing local materials and techniques such as bricks, tiles, timber, and tatami for visitors to experience.

This exhibition aims for people of all ages—from children to adults—to become familiar with regional culture, history, and technology through play and experience. As symbolized by the bricks sourced for the construction of the Handa Red Brick Building in 1898, the materials and techniques of the Chita Peninsula and West Mikawa regions reflect characteristics unique to the land. Helping visitors notice this 'architectural locality' is one of the exhibition's goals.

The stage for 'Architecture Play! in Handa' is the gallery of the Handa Red Brick Building, which was renovated from a Kabuto Beer factory. Please come and experience the connection between this long-standing building and the materials and techniques that have existed in this region since ancient times.
