[Kumamoto City x Minato Ward] 10 Years After the Earthquake: Bringing the "Present" and "Lessons" of the Disaster Area to Tokyo.

Kumamoto City (Mayor: Kazufumi Onishi), marking the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes, will hold the "-10 Years Since the Kumamoto Earthquakes- Disaster Prevention Panel Exhibition" at the Takanawa Regional City Office in Minato Ward, Tokyo, starting Monday, April 13, 2026. This event conveys gratitude for the warm support received so far, while also exhibiting records of the 10-year journey from the disaster to reconstruction and lessons learned in disaster prevention. Through the connection bridging Kumamoto City and Minato Ward, Tokyo, the exhibition aims to improve disaster awareness in urban areas.

### 2. About Exchange and Cooperation with Minato Ward
In Takanawa 1-chome, Minato Ward, there used to be the suburban residence of the Hosokawa clan, the former Kumamoto domain. In Shirokanedai 1-chome, there is Kakurin-ji Temple, which enshrines Kato Kiyomasa, the first lord of the Kumamoto domain who built Kumamoto Castle, showing a deep historical connection between the Takanawa area and Kumamoto City.

Previously, exchange projects have been conducted, including setting up a Kumamoto City booth at events organized by Minato Ward and holding an "Ikinari Dango (Kumamoto's local sweet) making class" for parents and children in the Takanawa area. Furthermore, following the record-breaking heavy rain that continued from August 10, 2025, Kumamoto City suffered extensive damage, including flooded houses. During that time, Minato Ward dispatched its staff to assist with the reception desk for issuing disaster certificate issuance.
