In the four cities and one town of the Miura Peninsula (Yokosuka City, Kamakura City, Zushi City, Miura City, and Hayama Town), the Miura Peninsula Blue Carbon Promotion Council *1 was established in 2024 to promote collaboration in solving common issues such as the loss of seaweed beds (rocky shore denudation) and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.

In Miura City, utilizing the corporate hometown tax donation from Nippon Television Network Corporation, we have been working on the regeneration of eelgrass beds in Jogashima and kajime (Ecklonia cava) beds in Moroiso. And now, we are holding our first event at the eelgrass beds in Jogashima!

We have prepared content that allows you to feel the ocean firsthand and deepen your understanding of the importance of seaweed beds, such as experiencing planting eelgrass in the actual place where seaweed bed creation is being undertaken, seeing and touching fish caught in the Miura Peninsula, and hearing stories directly from actual fishermen.

We will begin accepting applications from participants starting Thursday, April 9th, so please apply. We sincerely look forward to your participation! *This matter is being announced simultaneously by the four cities and one town of the Miura Peninsula.
