Stroly Inc. (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; CEO: Manachi Takahashi; hereinafter 'Stroly') announces the provision and launch of the 'Digital Gion Festival Yoiyama Guide 2026' platform as part of the 'Initiative to Improve the Viewing Environment for the Gion Festival,' a collaborative effort by the Gion Festival Yoiyama Conference, Kyoto City, the Kyoto City Tourism Association, and the Kyoto Prefectural Police. This initiative aims to support smooth movement for festival attendees.
The initiative aims to ensure a safe and comfortable viewing environment in the bustling Gion Festival area. By leveraging Stroly’s GPS-integrated digital map technology, the platform provides strong support for appropriate guidance during congestion and multilingual information dissemination.
[Features of the 'Digital Gion Festival Yoiyama Guide 2026']
The digital guide provided by Stroly integrates with smartphone GPS functionality to support smooth navigation within the festival area.
Promoting Safe Circulation through Visualization of One-Way Traffic Information
To ensure safety during the crowded Yoiyama nights, the map displays one-way traffic information around the user’s current location. This enables visitors to instantly understand the correct direction of travel, helping to alleviate congestion and prevent accidents.
Support for International Tourists (Inbound Visitors)
In response to the increasing diversity of visitors, both Japanese and English versions of the digital guide are created and distributed simultaneously—complementing printed versions—to ensure a comfortable viewing experience for overseas tourists.
Enhanced Map Features
GPS Integration: The user’s real-time location is displayed on an illustrated map.
Design Switching Function: Users can instantly toggle between an illustrated map rich with the atmosphere of the Gion Festival and a standard map with a single tap.
Display of Float Explanations: Tapping on any float (Yamaboko) on the map allows users to view detailed explanatory information.
[Related Initiatives to Improve the Gion Festival Viewing Environment]
In addition to the digital map, the following safety measures will be implemented by relevant organizations during this year’s Gion Festival:
Distribution of Printed Guides (Gion Festival Yoiyama Conference)
100,000 Japanese-language and 20,000 English-language printed guides will be distributed at approximately 90 locations, including the Kyoto Tourist Information Center 'Kyona-bi,' various float neighborhoods, and train stations.
Live Video Streaming via Portable Cameras (Kyoto City & Kyoto City Tourism Association)
From July 10 to 24, cameras will be installed near Shijo-Karasuma and Karasuma-Rokku to provide real-time live streaming on YouTube and the 'Kyoto Tourism Comfort Map' (with reduced resolution for privacy protection; no recording will be performed).
Guidance by Sign-Holding Staff (Gion Festival Yoiyama Conference)
From 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM on July 15 and 16, sign-holding staff will be stationed at 31 anticipated congestion points to guide visitors on one-way traffic and entry restrictions.
Stroly endorses the principles of the 'Kyoto Tourism Conduct Guidelines (Kyoto Tourism Morals),' which respect the lives of festival organizers, local authorities, police, and residents. Moving forward, Stroly will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of safe and enjoyable tourism and cultural events through technology.
