Taguppi Usage Image

SoundForest Inc. (Location: Kodaira City, Tokyo; CEO: Kazuki Otomori; hereinafter "SoundForest"), which supports companies' DX promotion and new business development with a focus on AI utilization support, reskilling, and system development, has developed "Taguppi," an IC tag service that safely connects finders with owners/guardians when lost items or missing persons are found. To promote "Taguppi," we are beginning to recruit partner companies that will manufacture and sell products including the tags, as well as adopting companies and organizations.

"Taguppi" is a lost and found solution system that allows finders to immediately contact the owner/guardian by holding a smartphone to an IC tag. Through a mechanism that enables communication via a dedicated page on a browser without directly writing personal information such as phone numbers or addresses on the tag, it supports the early discovery, protection, and return of precious family members and belongings, including children, the elderly, pets, umbrellas, bags, and keys.

Currently, tag writing by owners is only supported on Android NFC-compatible devices. A dedicated app for writing tags on iPhone devices is currently under development and is scheduled for release at the end of July 2026. The general sales launch date is undecided. Moving forward, we aim to expand into various products and services through collaboration with partner companies and adopting companies and organizations.

Background of Development

Concerns such as "precious people or things cannot be found" occur in various everyday situations, involving young children, elderly individuals with dementia, pets, and important belongings. While using GPS devices is also a valid option, concerns about privacy protection and risks of misuse exist with systems that constantly acquire location information. In particular, the possibility of the owner's current location being known to a third party raises concerns about leading to stalking or unexpected trouble.

On the other hand, many people feel uneasy about directly writing phone numbers or addresses on belongings, name tags, or lost child tags from a personal information protection perspective. Furthermore, finders also face challenges such as "not knowing who to contact" or "hesitation to handle personal information" when they find a lost item or a missing person. "Taguppi" was born from the desire to "safely deliver the goodwill of the finder."

What is "Taguppi"?

"Taguppi" is a lost and found solution service that utilizes IC tags and smartphones to enable anonymous chat communication. When a finder holds their device to the tag, a dedicated page is displayed on their browser, allowing immediate contact with the tag's owner or guardian. Since the owner can communicate without revealing their name, phone number, or address, it facilitates the early discovery of lost items or missing persons with peace of mind, while avoiding the disclosure of personal information.

"Taguppi" is a service that can be utilized for a wide range of targets, including children, the elderly, pets, and belongings. SoundForest envisions its use in various products such as covers for randoseru (school backpacks), keychains, umbrellas, bags, pet supplies, disaster preparedness goods, artist merchandise, and event novelties.

For corporate adoption, we aim for utilization in a wide range of settings, including commercial facilities, theme parks, schools, nurseries, and nursing care facilities. We also recommend its introduction into novelties and merchandise for events such as fireworks festivals, music events, and children's events, where many people participate and lost items or missing persons are likely to occur, especially during summer vacation.

Key Features of "Taguppi"

1. Contact by Simply Holding Your Device Near the Tag

Finders can access a dedicated page by holding their smartphone near the IC tag. No installation of dedicated apps or other software is required for the finder, allowing them to immediately contact the owner/guardian upon finding a lost item or missing person.

2. Communicate Without Revealing Personal Information

Tag owners can connect with finders while protecting their personal information, without directly writing their phone number or address on the tag.

3. Does Not Interfere with Design

IC tags are thin and lightweight, allowing them to be embedded inside various products. Since only a simple "Taguppi" logo is intended to be printed on the exterior, it is less likely to detract from the original design of the product and is easy to incorporate into existing or original merchandise.

4. No Battery Required

IC tags do not require charging or battery replacement. Since there is no need for power management, they can be incorporated into various products such as randoseru covers, keychains, umbrellas, bags, pet supplies, and event novelties for long-term use.

Anticipated Usage Scenarios

"Taguppi" is a system that can be widely utilized not only for monitoring and lost item prevention in general households but also for product development and adoption by companies and organizations. In general households, it can be used for lost item prevention by incorporating it into children's randoseru or bags, belongings of elderly family members, pet collars or lost pet tags, keys, umbrellas, wallets, and bags.

For businesses, we envision various adoption scenarios, such as providing added value by incorporating it into artist merchandise or fan merchandise for children's events, concert venues, and music events, as well as for lost item and missing person prevention in schools and commercial facilities, and for missing person prevention at fireworks festivals and community events.

For facilities where handling lost items and missing persons is frequent, smoothing the process from discovery to contact can also reduce the burden on staff and management costs.

Partner and Adopting Companies Currently Being Recruited

"Taguppi" is currently seeking partner companies that can plan, manufacture, and sell products incorporating IC tags, as well as companies and organizations that can adopt the service.

The following are the types of partner and adopting companies we are anticipating:

Product manufacturers of keychains, umbrellas, bags, randoseru covers, etc.

Pet supply manufacturers and pet-related businesses

Companies that plan and sell artist merchandise, fan merchandise, and event merchandise

Organizers of children's events, community events, fireworks festivals, etc.

Schools, nurseries, kindergartens, municipalities, commercial facilities, nursing care facilities

Companies and organizations wishing to implement a lost and found response system

We are considering collaboration in various forms, including the manufacturing and sales of products including tags, adding functionality to existing merchandise, and adoption at events and facilities.

CEO's Comment

Kazuki Otomori, Representative Director and CEO

Lost items and missing persons are common problems that can happen to anyone. However, there are concerns about personal information protection when writing contact information directly, and finders may also be unsure about how to report it.

While GPS devices can be used as a means of monitoring, systems that constantly acquire location information also carry privacy concerns and risks of misuse by third parties. In particular, knowing the owner's current location could potentially lead to unexpected trouble or criminal activity.

"Taguppi" is not a system that constantly tracks current location like GPS, but rather a mechanism that allows the finder to safely contact the owner or guardian when they read the tag.

With the desire to "safely deliver the goodwill of the finder," we aim to expand its use in everyday life and at events so that children, the elderly, pets, and precious belongings can return to a safe place as quickly as possible.

Future Development

Moving forward, prior to direct sales to general households, we plan to proceed with collaborations with partner companies and adopting companies. We aim to introduce it into products used in daily life and event scenes, such as keychains, umbrellas, randoseru covers, pet supplies, artist merchandise, and event novelties.

Furthermore, we will contribute to creating an environment where people can participate and use services with peace of mind through its application in situations where lost items and missing persons are likely to occur, such as fireworks festivals, community events, schools, commercial facilities, and pet-related facilities. The general sales launch date is currently undecided.
