"Next Office" Always-Connected Video Solution Now Supports Mac and Smartphone Browser Access

RTC Tech Solutions Co., Ltd. This feature allows participation from Mac, smartphone, and tablet browsers, and the company has started accepting applications for free trials.

This provides a new workplace experience where staff on business trips, working from home, or in the field can casually "drop by and talk" to colleagues in the head office, just like walking over to their desk.

What is "Next Office"?

"Next Office" is a representative use case of LoopGate, where video conferencing systems at remote bases are kept constantly connected via video and audio.

Instead of issuing URLs or making reservations for each meeting, each office or floor remains connected via video throughout business hours. Employees can work while feeling the presence of their colleagues on the other side of the monitor, as if they were sitting at the next desk. They can start a conversation simply by speaking.

To date, over 500 companies, primarily local governments, medical institutions, and manufacturing industries, have adopted this system. It connects departments that need to work together despite being physically separated, such as main offices and branch offices, headquarters and factories, and doctors' offices and hospital wards.

What the New "Browser Link" Feature Solves

Previously, "Next Office" could only be used at bases with dedicated hardware and on some PCs running the Windows version of "LoopGate for PC". Mac users within the company, employees on business trips, teleworkers, and staff moving around in the field could not enter the always-on connection loop. This was repeated feedback from customers and sales partners.

"Browser Link" is a new cloud-based feature that removes this "device barrier". By simply clicking a distributed URL or scanning a QR code, users can join an existing "Next Office" from their device, including Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android smartphones/tablets, Windows PCs, and browser-equipped electronic whiteboards.

Three Key Features of "Browser Link"

1. Join the permanent "Next Office" from outside later

Instead of issuing a meeting each time like with Teams/Zoom's "invitation URL method", it is used like dropping into a permanently open video call environment "Next Office" from outside. It recreates daily communication such as "greeting a colleague who has returned to their desk" or "opening the door to the next department to ask a question" from outside the office, at home, or in the field. In the event of a disaster or failure, it can be used as a business continuity (BCP) communication tool, as it can immediately connect from a smartphone at home or an evacuation site to the headquarters' always-on conference.

2. Compatible with Mac, smartphone, and tablet browsers

Mac users within the company, as well as employees' personal smartphones and tablets, which were not supported by the previously Windows-only "LoopGate for PC", can now participate without installing any additional apps. This allows the scope of LoopGate usage to be expanded company-wide without the operational burden of distributing PC software to all employees and managing updates.

3. Enables remote work support with on-site smartphones

Through the smartphone camera, on-site work targets can be shared with the headquarters while receiving instructions from veteran engineers via video. This enables communication not just with words but by showing the actual object, which is also beneficial for foreign workers who are not proficient in Japanese.

Instead of calling people one by one like on the phone, you can consult and give instructions to multiple relevant people in the company simultaneously face-to-face. Easily call the head office's "Next Office" from a Mac or smartphone at home. You can ask questions and consult with multiple people simultaneously, just like walking over to their desk. This is faster than making a phone call or scheduling a web meeting, preventing a drop in work speed.

Manufacturing, construction, and service field sites → Consultation with veteran engineers at headquarters

Field workers can show the work target at hand with their smartphone while receiving instructions from veteran engineers at the headquarters via video.
