Regnio Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; Representative Director: Masatoshi Nakano), in collaboration with Yutaka Steel Industry Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kasuya-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture; President: Kansuke Hirasawa) and Token Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Katano City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Hajimeya Yahara), has launched sales of the 'Human-Collaborative AI Crane Safety Support System' through Token Machinery Manufacturing as of April 2026.

Overview
The 'Human-Collaborative AI Crane Safety Support System' is a safety support system that utilizes AI in crane operations to advance safety measures and facilitate the transfer of skills from expert workers. The three companies have been co-developing the system for approximately three years to bring it to practical application. Since February 2025, verification tests have been conducted on the leveler line at Yutaka Steel Industry's Kanda plant.

Equipped with cameras and 3D 'LiDAR' sensors mounted on top of the crane, the system captures crane movements and ground work conditions, processing and analyzing them directly on edge devices. The AI detects the positions of workers, lifting equipment (hackers), and products like steel plates in real-time, identifying operations such as hoisting, transport, and 'ground cutting' (a safety maneuver where the lifted load is slightly raised from the ground and temporarily paused). During ground cutting, the system provides countdowns via voice and staged alerts to support safe work at the appropriate timing and procedure. If danger is detected, it immediately notifies the operator via light and voice.

This system does not just issue alerts; it also evaluates work performance. By supporting safety on the job through features like countdowns during ground cutting, it also analyzes crane operations, converts them into scores, and utilizes the data for safety prevention and talent development.

Industry Challenges
Handling heavy items such as steel plates at manufacturing sites is difficult to fully automate or unman. However, with labor shortages and an aging workforce, fostering the next generation has become a significant industry challenge. We aim to achieve better on-site work through the collaboration of humans and AI, rather than simply replacing humans with AI. Through this system, we aim to simultaneously support the strengthening of site safety and the transfer of expert skills.

Five Features
This system is a new 'human-collaborative' type that combines voice, light, scoring, real-time feedback, and AI agents.

Future Expansion
The system is introduced by retrofitting existing cranes with cameras, 3D sensors, and edge processing terminals. It can be customized according to on-site work content and we will advance development for the manufacturing industry, centering on the steel processing and distribution industry where cranes are installed, including coil centers.
