GENIAC-PRIZE is a NEDO Award Program (NEDO Challenge) with a total prize money of approximately 800 million JPY, targeting three areas—social issues, government agencies, and safety—and the following four themes, which are expected to be solved by generative AI services. Led by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and NEDO, it aims to promote the development and demonstration by various entities in diverse regions and accelerate the utilization and social implementation of generative AI applications. At the final screening and awards ceremony held on March 24, 2026, a total of 42 prize winners were selected from over 200 applications.

Theme II: Improving customer support productivity

- Proposal Title: From one month to one day for experts. AI agents accelerating battery development.

- Challenge: In the field of battery research and development and material development, advanced specialized knowledge and extensive trial and error are required for setting simulation conditions and organizing the premises for analysis. Therefore, a significant amount of expert time was spent on responding to inquiries and organizing requirements, which was a challenge.

- Proposal Overview:
- This proposal aims to implement the tacit knowledge of experts in battery research into an AI agent, supporting appropriate condition organization and inquiry handling based on users' ambiguous requests and consultations. It is expected to contribute to reducing the burden on experts and accelerating battery development.
- This AI agent is an autonomous reasoning system equipped with the tacit knowledge of the Inoue Laboratory. It integrates customer applications and management applications for research laboratories, and through a Plan-Act-Reflect autonomous thinking loop, it logically and automatically generates calculation conditions (requirements) definitions of equivalent quality to those set by experts, in response to ambiguous user requests.
- The period was shortened to less than 1/20 (from one month to one day), while achieving "accuracy equal to or higher than conditions set by experts."
