NTT Landscape Begins Demonstration of Smart Hotel 'LsHotel' Using Trailer Houses

NTT Landscape Co., Ltd. will open its first smart hotel using trailer houses, 'LsHotel Mukawa', on July 1, 2026, as a demonstration project.

This initiative is a collaboration between Mukawa Town and the NTT Group to verify flexible and sustainable solutions to the challenge of insufficient lodging capacity in the region.

1. Background and Purpose

Local governments face a major challenge in that a lack of accommodation facilities prevents them from converting visitors from outside the area into overnight stays. Furthermore, due to recent soaring construction costs and a shortage of operational staff, attracting traditional accommodation facilities such as city hotels and business hotels is becoming increasingly difficult year by year.

In light of this situation, Mukawa Town and NTT Landscape will jointly work to build a new accommodation facility model through the demonstration of a smart hotel using trailer houses, which offers:
① Reduced initial investment and operational burden
② Flexible installation and operation according to demand
③ The ability to be moved to appropriate locations during disasters for use as regional disaster prevention bases

This demonstration is based on a comprehensive partnership agreement signed in December 2025, leveraging the strengths of both the public and private sectors.

2. Demonstration Details

Five trailer houses will be installed on the premises of the 'Shiki no Yakata' complex in Mukawa Town, Hokkaido, and operated as a smart hotel.
The demonstration will verify the following aspects:

✓ The ripple effect on the local economy by promoting travel in conjunction with tourist facilities, restaurants, and experiential content, including the Hobetsu Dinosaur Museum in Mukawa Town

✓ The potential for new visitor and stayover population creation measures (such as inquiry-based learning) centered around the accommodation facility

✓ Efficient and sustainable operational management utilizing unmanned check-in, smart locks, etc.

July 1, 2026

4. Future Outlook

Based on the knowledge gained from this demonstration, NTT Landscape aims to organize the ideal form of accommodation facilities according to regional characteristics and establish it as a sustainable regional revitalization model.
In the future, the company plans to expand this model to other local governments, contributing to solving regional issues and creating new value.
