A new summer festival event, "BON BON BON - Bon Sai / Bonpa," is scheduled to be held at Kiyomita Park in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, on Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23, 2026. In conjunction with this event, the organizer, nonii Inc., has begun recruiting vendors to help create the festival. The application period for vendors is from Friday, June 12 to Sunday, June 21, 2026.
Event Concept The event is themed "Relight the Summer Festival." It aims to reinterpret the traditional lights of the Bon festival (such as welcoming fires, send-off fires, and lanterns) through modern presentation, reviving historical and cultural elements with contemporary technology and artistic expression.
Event Venue and Access The festival will take place at Kiyomita Park in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture (Address: 1626 Mikana, Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, adjacent to the Yaizu City Culture Center). Access details are as follows: - Approximately a 19-minute walk from JR Yaizu Station (approx. 1.6 km) - A 1-minute walk from the "Bunka Center-mae" bus stop - Approximately a 10-minute drive from the Yaizu Interchange (IC) on the Tomei Expressway - Free parking available (approx. 400 spaces) *Shuttle bus service is planned to run between JR Yaizu Station and the venue during the event period.
Main Activities and Contents - BONDANCE: A DJ booth integrated with the festival tower (yagura) will play remixed versions of classic Bon dance songs. - YAGURA: The central symbol of the venue, featuring a 360-degree stage for DJ performances, comedians, and musical artists. - ENNICHI: Traditional stalls offering kendama, target shooting, yo-yo fishing, cotton candy, shaved ice, and other activities curated by craftsmen from across Japan. - YOKOCHO: An experiential zone tracing words and cultures from the Showa to Reiwa eras. - FOOD & DRINK: Popular food stalls and specialty food shops from across the nation will gather. - LANTERN NIGHT: Countless traditional Japanese lanterns and paper lanterns will light up the night sky, culminating in the "OKURIBI" finale on the final day.
For its inaugural year in 2026, the organizer expects around 10,000 visitors, with plans to expand the festival to 20,000 to 30,000 visitors in the future, growing it from a local event in Yaizu to one recognized throughout the Tokai region and nationwide.
Vendor Recruitment Details The organizer is seeking vendors who offer unique, high-quality products and who can share the stories and passion behind their creations, rather than standard, generic festival stalls. - Eligible Categories: Food stalls (open-air), kitchen cars, retro merchandise, traditional game stalls, and workshops. - Preferred Vendors: Stalls with signature menu items, clear concepts, and custom hand-made or processed items. Preference will be given during selection to stalls using local ingredients or offering menus related to Yaizu or Shizuoka (not a mandatory condition). - Application Process: Interested parties must register an account and apply through the newly launched "Event Management Portal" (https://event-portal.nonii.co.jp/). Once registered, the user profile can be reused for future events hosted by nonii Inc. Selection will be based on alignment with the event concept if applications exceed capacity.
