This event was based on the book 'Meiku-bon for Elementary School Students: Making Myself and Everyone Around Me Smile' (Kodansha) and was themed around 'Getting to Know Yourself Through Beauty.'

Rather than teaching 'what is cute,' this was an experiential workshop designed to foster 'knowing oneself.' As a parent-child participation event, it brought together elementary students and guardians to learn about and experience skincare, UV care, and makeup.

At the venue, participants engaged in 'beauty education' that went beyond mere sensation, addressing questions such as: 'How much lotion is in a sheet mask?', 'Why is UV care necessary?', 'What is the difference between highlighting and shading?', and 'Where do facial impressions change?'. Children chose, touched, and tried out cosmetics themselves, having time to face their own faces.

Also impressive was the shift from 'beauty to be taught' to 'beauty to be shared,' with moments where children suggested makeup ideas to adults. The atmosphere was filled with smiles, playful faces, and serious expressions, creating an air of 'expressing oneself using the whole face.'

Furthermore, as an open space within a commercial facility, passersby stopped to watch, and the event functioned as a 'community of beauty culture' where parents, children, facilities, companies, and staff intermingled.

Currently, 'Me-Iku' is expanding its activity to build a new culture that 'turns beauty into learning' nationwide, with an eye towards co-creation with educational institutions, commercial facilities, local governments, and companies (beauty, daily goods, food, and healthcare).

[About 'Me-Iku'] A beauty education project led by hair and makeup artist Shinobu Igari.
