(President and CEO: Yasufumi Ichihara, hereinafter 'JR East Smart Logistics') and the Kamakura City Tourism Association (President: Satoru Nakamura, hereinafter 'Kamakura City Tourism Association') will install the reservation-enabled, cashless, multilingual, multi-functional locker 'Multi-eCube' at the Sugi Pharmacy Kamakura Ekimae Store starting Saturday, June 20, 2026, aiming to assist in resolving luggage issues for tourists.

In addition to the conventional luggage storage function, Multi-eCube allows advance reservations via the Multi-eCube website, meeting the needs of customers who wish to store their luggage and travel more comfortably.

Multi-eCube offers four functions—reservation, deposit, pickup, and shipping—all in one unit. Customers no longer need to use different lockers for different purposes, enabling seamless usage through a single Multi-eCube located conveniently at stations.

Additionally, the locker doors remain locked at all times except during customer operation, ensuring safe and secure usage.

2. Installation Locations and Number of Units

As of the end of May 2026, a total of 1,005 units have been installed nationwide, including stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area such as Tokyo Station and Shinjuku Station. Approximately 2,000 units are planned to be deployed nationwide by the end of fiscal year 2030.

3. About the Multi-eCube Website and Shipping Services

The Multi-eCube website is a web-based service that requires no download. In addition to searching for available lockers, users can reserve lockers by paying the usage fee plus a reservation fee (¥500). A premium membership is also available for a monthly fee of ¥500, which waives the reservation fee for one month.

Furthermore, by making a reservation via the Multi-eCube website and depositing luggage into the designated locker, users can utilize delivery services to send their luggage to a specified address such as their home, or have it delivered to their hotel on the same day. ※Available at select Multi-eCube locations.
