Program Details

Six J PREP alumni currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Tokyo participated in the roundtable.

The discussion covered personal stories from their middle and high school years, concrete study methods that led to university admission, and authentic insights into university life. Emphasis was placed on the 'real-life experiences of university students'—what excites them daily, what challenges they face, and what they are striving to achieve.

Participant Feedback

Current students listened intently to the candid stories shared by alumni close in age.

Following the event, numerous positive responses were received, indicating that the session served as a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their future aspirations and daily learning habits.

- 'It was great to hear real-life experiences about club activities. I’ve never heard university students talk before, so this was very informative.'

- 'I appreciated hearing diverse perspectives. My image of University of Tokyo students and university life has changed slightly.'

- 'I usually avoid studying because I find it difficult, but now I want to think more positively and try to enjoy it.'

- 'I realized there are many different types of University of Tokyo students, which I found interesting. I want to simply enjoy learning. It was also helpful to learn about research labs.'

- 'I used to think Tokyo University students were perfect, but learning that humanities students don’t need perfect balance was reassuring. The idea of “enjoying exam preparation” was a new and valuable insight.'

This roundtable served as a significant catalyst for students to proactively consider their academic and career paths.

Background of the Event

As society rapidly evolves, it is increasingly important for middle and high school students to envision their careers and learning goals at an early stage.

J PREP not only offers a curriculum that efficiently develops the five core English skills—speaking, writing, reading, listening, and thinking—but also emphasizes creating an environment that supports lifelong learning.

As part of this mission, J PREP regularly organizes opportunities for students to engage in direct dialogue with successful alumni who serve as role models.

Moving forward, J PREP will continue to host events connecting students with career development and lifelong learning, including university admission guidance sessions and alumni success sharing events.

J PREP remains committed to providing an educational environment that goes beyond language proficiency, laying the foundation for students to thrive globally.
