HYPEUP Inc. (Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, Representative Director Ryusuke Fujiwara, hereinafter HYPEUP) has produced a music video for the new song "Gen no Carnival" by artistgoateeatspoem., entirely with AI, without any filming. This work is now available on YouTube.

■Behind the Scenes of Complete AI Production — Completing the Entire Process Solo

In this project, Ryusuke Fujiwara, who has a career as a film and commercial director, handled everything from planning to completion for this approximately 6-minute video work, all by himself.

Although this work is "completely AI-produced," many aspects of its process are common to traditional video production. Humans are responsible for planning and design, meticulously designing elements such as storyboarding, character and setting design, camera lens, and lighting for each cut. These are approached in the same way as on a conventional film set. On the other hand, the entire process corresponding to actual "filming" is handled by AI. Humans organize the design content into a workflow, and AI generates the video based on that.

Character Design: Precisely designing character traits and conditions to enhance AI generation accuracy.
Scene Design: Designing the scene composition and camera movements to generate the intended visuals.

During the production process, unexpected visuals were often output, and the accuracy of settings and correction instructions, as well as the complete control of AI generation, greatly influenced the quality of the work.

Storyboard (Rough): Composition image during the design phase.
Generated Footage: Visual expression reproduced by AI based on the design.

Furthermore, expressions that would normally require extensive filming and high costs were realized through AI generation.

Large-scale Road/Intersection Closure: Scenes involving extensive filming and restrictions realized through AI generation.
Animals Appearing in the City: Scenes difficult to achieve with live-action realized through AI generation.

This work was achieved by combining human planning and design capabilities with AI's generative power. The production process, where humans design the intent and AI actualizes it, presents a new approach distinct from traditional video production based on filming.

■Background Leading to Production

This project began when Fujiwara received a direct offer to produce a music video fromgoateeatspoem. As Fujiwara's business operates under the banner of "Progress and Harmony between Humanity and AI," this work was undertaken as an all-AI production to embody that philosophy.

■Future Outlook

⚪︎Utilizing AI to Expand Possibilities

HYPEUP views AI as a "tool to augment human capabilities." By addressing challenges related to copyright surrounding AI, they aim to positively present the potential of AI.

Furthermore, leveraging their strength in consistently handling promotion, marketing, and creative work alongside AI utilization technology in video production, they are considering promotional activities using all-AI video works.

⚪︎Technology Transfer to Next-Generation Creators

They believe that the technology to completely control AI-generated video has the potential to bring about significant changes in the production schemes of the video production industry. Moving forward, they will explore initiatives to convey this technology and know-how.

■Representative's Comment

The all-AI video production this time was also an experiment to see how much of the filming process, a significant cost in video production, could be replaced by AI. I felt that the trial and error involved in controlling AI generation to achieve expressions true to human ideas and intentions was crucial. This was entirely akin to the endeavors undertaken when introducing new filming equipment or the latest CG technology, and it was an extremely exciting job.

I am convinced that all-AI video production greatly expands the possibilities for creators who do not have large filming crews. Moving forward, I want to pass on these technologies to the next generation of creators.
